Sharing PowerPoints

Posted by watsonlibrary on October 26, 2006

SlideShare is a new Web service that does for PowerPoints what Flickr does for photos or YouTube for videos.

That is, users can upload PowerPoint presentations, tag them with whatever terms they want, and make them available for others to view.

To sign up, you have to request an invitation on the SlideShare site. The invitation comes in your e-mail almost immediately, and then you’re free to search or browse the content on the site or upload your own PowerPoints.

I’ve only explored it briefly, looking, for example, for presentations with the word library or librarian. I’d be interested to hear what others think.

Is this yet another way, for example, to match Mindy’s presentation with the audio? Is there any particular benefit to making the PowerPoint presentations taggable and shareable?
